Xochimilco is located in the south of Mexico City, but to get there is worth it to float along the canals of on a trajinera (gondola-type boat).
It has been a tradition for decades that locals and visitors go there to renting a boat and captain, who drives the boat along the canals in a peculiar way using a long stick. You´ll find other trajineras laden with snacks, drinks, flowers, souvenirs, and, best of all, mariachis, whose services can be bought for, well, a song. Their boat will pull alongside yours, serenading your crew with Mexican favorites such as “Cielito Lindo”.
This lake was home to some Mesoamerican cultures in the pre-classic period and has been classified as Cultural Heritage. Be sure to bring a camera: the vividly painted boats and the whole scene are highly photogenic.
After that, we are going to tour around the south of the city, through the residential area of San Angel and Ciudad Universitaria, the most important Universty in Mexico, also a World Heritage place recognized for its architecture.
This is a Private Tour in your language. You will have, not only a comfortable and a safe trip but also an exclusive attention from your professional guide. We´ll pick you up at your hotel/address.
